I've been trying to do this for like two hours now and I'm really frustrated. I'm using GIMP right now 'cause it's free. I learned how to do the whole transparent background thing around my character, but when I try to upload it to DeviantArt it says GIF images aren't allowed to be posted in traditional art? It's still traditional, the only thing I'm doing digital is removing the background. Which categories are GIF images allowed in? I thought GIF was allowed in traditional art. Also, if i try to save my character with the transparent background to another type of file I get confused on what I am supposed to choose when exporting the file? I'm not too good with all this stuff. When I do end up saving it as another type of file and uploading it to dA, there is now a black background instead of a transparent one. I am really confused! All I want is a nice, crisp transparency behind my characters! Please help! Keep in mind I use GIMP, so it may be different from all the other programs.

I have a lot of free time on my hands lately. The after-Christmas, after-holiday hour cuts at both jobs leaves me with more time to kill. So I've been working on a lot of projects lately; some of my writing projects, but mostly on my upcoming graphic novel, that I started to piece together in 2008. The storyline has changed a good deal since then, but a lot of the characters have stayed the same. Also, I was just recently introduced to adopting characters through dA, so that has helped get my creative juices flowing; a lot of the characters go great with my plot. I know I have written several notes in the past about finally getting my comic/graphic novel going, but a recent boost of confidence in my somewhat talent for drawing and love for wolves has gotten me working on it this month. So, all in all, if anyone is interested in seeing me finally starting it and finally uploading the first pages, get ready! Haha.

For those interested, I will explain a bit of the plot/storyline of my wolf comic. I'm not entirely sure of the setting at all at this point, but I'm sure I'll come up with something soon. I'm sure it will be in a past time, where witchery and witchcraft was more common. Anyhow, in the lands there are two main wolf packs. One is the Spell Pack, a group of related and unrelated wolves who practice only white magic, magic which is used in only good purpose or perhaps as a counter to evil. The second pack is the Hex Pack, wolves who practive only black magic, magic used for evil purposes or with supposed evil spirits. These two much different wolf packs rarely associate with each other, as they each respect the 'old times' law where Spell and Hex Pack wolves could not mingle with, meet with, befriend, love one another or mate. This is one law and the ultimate law that was established in the old times by wolves of both packs. This law was made to prevent the cubs of a Spell Pack wolf and a Hex Pack wolf from being born; a HexSpell puppy, a pure gray magic wolf. These wolves, if ever born, have equal amounts of good and evil in them. They come from one parent who practices white and one parent who practices black magic; a combination that creates the utmost powerful wolf, a wolf who has equal control over the good and even inside them. The law was made so these wolves could not be brought into the world for they can bring both packs together, to settle their differences. But what the early Spell Pack wolves of the old times didn't know, was that it was part of the Hex Packs' plan to make the law so that no gray magic wolves could unite the packs. Uniting the packs meant ending the practice of black magic to create peace, something the Hex Pack wolves could not live with.

Our part of the story beings with a Spell Pack she-wolf falling in love with a Hex Pack captain. They bear three wolf cubs together in secret... The Three Brothers, the first pure gray magics since the old times....
